3 MAINTENANCE PHILOSOPHY Field Shop Maintenance performed on the GTX 32/33 is restricted to fault recognition and detection at the unit level and performing a return to service test according to the procedures given in Section 6 of this manual. Garmin certified repair stations can perform troubleshooting and testing according to ATE software and procedures or according to the procedures given in Section 6. All repairs are performed at Garmin International, Inc. 4 TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Technical specifications for the GTX 32/33 are given in the GTX 33 Installation Manual (P/N 190-00303-61) and the GTX 32 Installation Manual (P/N 190-00303-60). 5 TEST EQUIPMENT AND SETUP The following test equipment (or equivalent) listed in the table below is required for testing the GTX 32/33. Such as the TIC (Tel Instrument Electronics Corp) T-49CA or the TIC TR-220. 6 TROUBLESHOOTING AND TESTING 6.1 Introduction This section provides unit-level troubleshooting and functional testing information for the GTX 32/33 Transponder. The GTX 32/33 contains no field-replaceable parts. The procedures in this section can be performed to help identify a faulty unit, or as a return to service test. After failure of a specific test the unit may be returned to the factory for repair. After completing all necessary maintenance or service, perform the tests in this section. All tests are performed without accessing the inside of the unit. 6.2 Functional Tests (performed with the unit installed in the aircraft) Functional testing of the GTX 32/33 Transponder is performed by completing Title 14 CFR Chapter 1, Part 43, Appendix F tests required for a Class 2A Mode S transponder (Class 2A Mode S transponder tests are not required for the GTX 32 transponder). Perform functional testing on the installed unit before returning the installation to service. These measurements are applicable after a ten-minute warm-up period. Page 6 Rev.
