CHAPTER 4: Using Drives and Accessories Ordering accessories To order accessories, visit the Accessory Store at www.gateway.com. Accessories may not be available in all localities. Automobile/airplane power adapters With an automobile/airplane power adapter, you can save battery power by plugging your convertible notebook into an automobile cigarette lighter or an airplane in-flight power receptacle. Batteries If you run your convertible notebook on battery power for extended periods, you may want to buy an additional main battery or a multibay battery so you can swap batteries when necessary. See "Changing batteries" on page 69 for more information about using an additional battery. Bay modules Your convertible notebook's modular bay supports different bay modules, such as a CD, DVD, combination DVD/CD-RW, or multi-format DVD±RW drive, or a multibay battery. See "Changing modules" on page 52 for more information. Carrying cases Gateway has large-capacity carrying cases if you need additional space for accessories or supplies. Digital pens Order replacement digital pens from Gateway. The convertible notebook does not respond to other tablet pens, plastic pens, or PDA stylus. Hard drives If you want to increase your internal storage space, try replacing your existing hard drive with a larger drive. See "Replacing the hard drive kit" on page 110 for more information. Memory Large programs, such as multimedia games or graphics programs, use a lot of memory. If your programs are running more slowly than you think they should, try adding more memory. See "Adding or replacing memory modules" on page 107 for more information. 64
