GEAppliances.com Reusable vent filters (on all models) Reusable Vent Filter The metal filters trap grease released by foods on the cooktop. They also prevent flames from foods on the cooktop from damaging the inside of the oven. For this reason, the filters must always be in place when the hood is used. The vent filters should be cleaned once a month, or as needed. Removing and Cleaning the Grease Filters The grease filters should be removed and cleaned often, at least once a month. 4 To reinstall the filters, slide them into the back slots, then push up to lock. 1 Disconnect power or unplug the microwave oven. 5 Reconnect power or plug in the microwave oven. 2 To remove the grease filters, slide the filters to the back. Pull the filters downward. The filters will drop out. 3 Soak the grease filters in hot water and a mild detergent. Scrub and swish to remove embedded dirt and grease. Rinse well and shake to dry. Do not clean filters with ammonia, corrosive cleaning agents such as lye-based oven cleaners, or place them in a dishwasher. The filters will turn black or could be damaged. NOTE: Do not operate the hood without the filters in place. To replace, slide the filters into the frame slots on the back of each opening. Press up and to the front to lock into place. 31
