INSTALLATION AC Power Plug the cord into a wall socket. NOTE: The power does not shut off completely by just turning the power off. So power cord should be removed from AC outlet when not in use for a prolonged time. AC Voltage Selector This receiver is supplied with a voltage selector enabling selection between 230V and 240V on the rear panel. If the selector is not set to the local voltage, set the selector to the correct voltage with a screwdriver before connecting the powr cord to a mains outlet. Speaker Installation For best performance, use high quality speaker cables. However, ordinary copper wire can be used if the gauge meets the following requirements: Wire Length Up to 2m (8 feet) Up to 4m (12 feet) Up to 7m (20 feet) Over 7m (20 feet) Gauge 18 AWG 16 AWG 14 AWG 10-12 AWG custom cable NOTE: Avoid coiling excess wire with or near line level hook-up cords. Connect first pair of speakers to receiver terminals marked Speaker System 1. 1. Note the difference between the two conductors in each cable: different colored insulation, ridged insulation, or colored yarn. 2. Connect the right-hand speaker to the receiver, being sure to connect the positive terminal on the speaker to the terminal marked "Right" on the receiver, and the negative or ground terminal on the speaker to the corresponding "GND" terminal on the receiver. 3. Connect terminals on the left-hand speaker to the "Left" and corresponding "GND" terminals on the receiver, again being careful to maintain correct polarity. To connect a second set of speakers: IMPORTANT: When connecting two pairs of speakers, determine the impedance of each pair by looking on the back of the speakers, or in your owner's manual, or by contacting your dealer or manufacturer. Then refer to the following chart to see if both sets may be played simultaneously. If the impedance of the two pairs is: 8S2/8Q 8.4)/6S2 812/412 612/612 612/452 45-214.c/ Can both pairs be played simultaneously? YES NO NO NO NO NO WARNING: Do not play both sets of speakers simultaneously except as recommended above. Receiver may overheat. (Th >OC Connect the second pair of speakers, in the manner described above, to the receiver terminals marked Speaker System 2. 5
