HISTORY In 1953, Sidney Harman and Bernard Kardon formed a company to introduce a highly sensitive FM tuner that was a revelation at the time. The following year, they combined their superior tuner with a superior amplifier, creating an unheard-of device, which they called a receiver. In the years to come, landmark Harman Kardon products would lead the transition from vacuum tubes to solid state, from mono to stereo, and from analog to digital. With features that often broke new ground, and performance that always set higher standards, nothing else ever looked or sounded quite like Harman Kardon components. And that's just the way we wanted it. 16
