System board NOTE: The system board spare part kit includes replacement thermal materials. Description System board (includes replacement thermal materials): All system boards use the following part numbers: xxxxxx-001: Windows 7 or non-Windows operating system xxxxxx-601: Windows 10 For use in models with discrete graphics: ● AMD A10-9600P processor and 4 GB of dedicated video memory ● AMD A10-9600P processor and 2 GB of dedicated video memory ● AMD A8-7410 processor and 2 GB of dedicated video memory ● AMD A6-7310 processor and 2 GB of dedicated video memory For use in models with UMA graphics: ● AMD A10-9600P processor ● AMD A9-9410 processor ● AMD A8-7410 processor ● AMD A6-7310 processor ● AMD E2-7110 processor Spare part number 856770-xxx 856769-xxx 856767-xxx 856766-xxx 856768-xxx 859287-xxx 856765-xxx 856764-xxx 856763-xxx Before removing the system board, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 32). 5. Remove the optical drive (see Optical drive on page 33). 6. Remove the bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 39). NOTE: When replacing the system board, be sure that the following components are removed from the defective system board and installed on the replacement system board: ● Memory modules (see Memory module on page 47) ● WLAN module (see WLAN module on page 44) ● Fan/heat sink assembly (see Fan/heat sink assembly on page 56) ● Solid-state drive (if installed) (see Solid-state drive on page 49) To remove the system board: Component replacement procedures 61
