HP Designjet Printers & Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard What's Included Mac OS X v10.6 'Snow Leopard' includes HP Designjet printer drivers plus HP utility for the full print and utility functionality. The latest HP Designjet software and print utility for the HP Designjet printers listed below are also included in the Mac OS X 10.6 retail DVD, Apple Software updates , and all new Macs that are delivered with Snow Leopard. The version of the drivers included in the DVD and Apple Software update are: Snow Leopard DVD - PostScript drivers version 5.3 Apple Software update - Raster drivers version 3.3.1 PostScript drivers version 5.4 Important: Do not reinstall drivers from the original HP Designjet CDs or web downloads from previous Mac OS X 10.3, 10.4 or 10.5. Older software is not compatible with Snow Leopard. The latest Mac OS X 10.6 compatible HP print drivers are included in Mac OS X 10.6 DVD, Apple Software Updates, and new Macs. You will experience the optimum performance and functionality if the latest HP software is used. HP Designjet Printer setup instructions The following sections describe how to install your HP Designjet printer under the following circumstances: 1. Upgrading to Mac OS X 10.6 from Mac OS X 10.4 or 10.5 2. Configuring your HP Designjet printer with a new Macintosh with Snow Leopard already installed or after performing a clean install from the Snow Leopard DVD. 1. Upgrading to a Mac OS X 10.6 If you are upgrading your Mac OS X 10.6 from Mac 10.4 or 105 • If you have a PostScript Designjet printer, the queue will automatically be recreated using the latest HP drivers included in Snow Leopard. After recreating your queues, Apple Software may launch automatically and suggest that you download a new driver for your printers. In order to have the most up to date driver for your HP Designjet printers, please install the update from Apple Software. • If you have a non PostScript Designjet printer, the Apple Software Update application might launch allowing you to install the new driver for your printer. However if the Apple Software Update does not automatically launch, please launch it manually by going to Apple - SW Update Note: If you are using or sharing a printer that is connected directly to an Apple Airport with a USB or Ethernet cable, these printer queues will NOT be recreated. A new printer queue can easily be quickly created using the steps below. Printing from a USB Printer 1. Make sure your printer is turned on and connected. 2. Open a document or web page to print, and then choose File > Print. Note: You can also go directly to System Preferences > Print & Fax. 3. From the Printer pop-up menu, choose your printer. If you do not see your printer listed, choose Add Printer, and click Default 4. In the Name column, select your printer, and then click Add. Printing from a Network Printer You can connect to HP printers on your local network (wireless and Ethernet) using Bonjour and IP, as well as shared printers connected to an Apple Airport base station.
