Introduction HP recommends the installation of the HP-UX 11i v1 OE Update Release for December 2006 plus the June 2007 OnLine Diagnostics Depot for full HP-UX support with these new HP 9000 servers. Earlier OE releases will require the addition of key HP-UX components from the December 2006 OE release for minimal HP-UX support with new hardware. The key HP-UX components for new hardware support include the latest HWEnable11i patch bundle, diagnostics and I/O driver bundles, along with the Ignite-UX product. New servers may need the latest version of other HP-UX applications from the current OE release for hardware support from the updated manageability and configuration tools. The configuration management products from the December 2006 release provides support for all cell-based servers (including the new rp7440, rp8440, and SuperDome models) running the HP-UX 11i v1 OE. In particular, the System Fault Management (SFM) bundle includes advanced hardware fault technologies for these new systems. The HP-UX configuration management products are delivered on the HP-UX 11i v1 OE media for December 2006, and are also available from the HP Software Depot: http://www.hp.com/go/softwaredepot. These servers also require the following HP-UX patches in addition to HP-UX components from the December 2006 OE and June 2007 OnLine Diagnostics releases. The following HP-UX patches have been included in the June 2007 11.11 QPK patch bundle. The QPK patch bundle and June 2007 OnLine Diagnostics Depot have been incorporated into the HP-UX 11i (B.11.11) Support Plus media for June 2007. NOTE: Install the 11.11 OnlineDiags from June 2007 before updating your server with the latest system firmware. For more information, please see the release notes for this system firmware. This new support requires the following patch. • PHCO_34605: 11.11 rad(1M) and hotplugd(1M) cumulative patch (Supports pdweb tool.) These new servers support PCI-X Mode 2.0 I/O adapters that require the installation of the following patch. • PHKL_34930: 11.11 I/O,vPar,CDUMP,IM perf,PCI-X perf, PCI-X2.0 These server models require the following patch for the HP-UX Virtual Partitions (vPars) product. • PHNE_35939: 11.11 Cumulative MUX and Pty patch The servers with 16 or 32 sockets will also require the following patch that sets the default nproc value: • PHKL_35693: 11.11 netdiag1 MP-driver and default nproc Download HP-UX patches and patch information from you nearest HP IT Resource Center: http://itrc.hp.com Select a site (americas/asia or european).
