3 Peer-to-Peer Connection In a peer-to-peer direct network configuration, the printer is directly connected to the network via an HP JetDirect External Print Server, and each computer on the network sends print jobs directly to the HP JetDirect External Print Server. Print Server Printer Clients Operating Systems and Print Servers for the Peer-to-Peer Connection The following print servers and client operating systems are supported: Operating Systems • Windows 95 • Windows 98 • Windows NT 4.0 Print Servers • HP JetDirect 170X • HP JetDirect 300X Setting Up a Peer-to-Peer Printer Connection 1 Set up the printer. Follow the instructions in Steps 1 through 5, starting on page 2. In Step 2, on page 3, connect the printer to the HP JetDirect External Print Server with a parallel cable. Print Server Printer 2 Set up the HP JetDirect External Print Server. Install and configure the HP JetDirect External Print Server according to the instructions provided with the print server. 3 Install the HP DeskJet 970C Series printer software on each of the clients.
