Fixes • Firmware in attached tape drives can be updated. Prerequisites Requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x or higher or Mozilla Firefox 1.5 or 2.x. Installation instructions NOTE: During the update the HP D2D Backup System will reboot. After the update all configuration settings on the HP D2D Backup System will be retained. 1. Save the firmware image file on a server or PC that is connected to the same subnet as the HP D2D Backup System. 2. From a Web Browser, launch the HP StorageWorks D2D Backup System Web Management Interface by typing in the IP address of the HP D2D Backup System to be updated. 3. Ensure that there are no current or scheduled backup jobs that will occur during the firmware update period, because the HP D2D Backup System will reboot during the update process. 4. Log in and navigate to the Firmware Page. 5. Select the Browse button in order to locate the firmware image on the host system. 6. Select Upload update the firmware. NOTE: Do NOT navigate away from the firmware page. 7. The LEDs on the HP D2D Backup System will flash a firmware update pattern (alternate amber and green). 8. After a few seconds the HP D2D Backup System will reboot, completion of the reboot is indicated by all LEDs returning to current system status (generally all green). 9. Reconnect to the Web Management interface to observe that the upgrade has completed successfully. 10. Manually log back on to the HP D2D Backup System iSCSI targets via the iSCSI initiator from each system. Use the HP D2D Backup System as a backup target. Alternatively, if targets have been made persistent (restore automatically on reboot), simply reboot the host systems. 11. To make use of new autoloader functionality any previously configured autoloaders should have their emulation type changed to the new HP 1x8 G2 Autoloader emulation. To do this, use the devices page from the web management interface. Determining current version From a Web Browser, launch the HP StorageWorks D2D Backup System Web Management Interface by typing in the IP address of the HP D2D Backup System to be updated.
