4 The Installation wizard This chapter is relevant for users installing on a Windows host. If you are installing on a Linux system, please refer to the "Linux Configuration Guide" on the HP StorageWorks Tape CD-ROM. In this chapter: • "Before you install the first host" on page 39 • "Run the Installation wizard" on page 40 If you are installing on a Windows system, the Installation wizard is the recommended way to set up a host machine to work with the HP D2D Backup System, particularly if you are configuring the host for the first time. The wizard automatically configures all the software components needed to connect and use the HP D2D Backup System. It should be run on all hosts that are to be backed up to the HP D2D Backup System. If you are not using the Installation wizard to install on a Windows system, please see "Advanced installation" on page 45. Before you install the first host You must have the necessary administrative rights on the host to run the Installation wizard successfully. 1. Make sure the host machine on which you are running the Installation wizard has Internet access. If it does not, you will have to download the Microsoft ® iSCSI Initiator manually. See "Microsoft iSCSI Initiator" on page 46. 2. Press the Power on button on the front of your HP D2D Backup System. During power on the LEDs will perform a self-test sequence; all LEDs with the exception of the status LED will then be extinguished until the boot sequence is completed. D2D Backup System 39

4 The Installation wizard
This chapter is relevant for users installing on a Windows host. If you are installing on a Linux system,

If you are installing on a Windows system, the Installation wizard is the recommended way to set up a host
machine to work with the HP D2D Backup System, particularly if you are con
guring the host for the
rst
time. The wizard automatically con
gures all the software components needed to connect and use the HP
D2D Backup System. It should be run on all hosts that are to be backed up to the HP D2D Backup System.

Before you install the
rst host
You must have the necessary administrative rights on the host to run the Installation wizard successfully.
1.
Make sure the host machine on which you are running the Installation wizard has Internet
access. If it does not, you will have to download the Microsoft ® iSCSI Initiator manually. See
Microsoft iSCSI Initiator
” on page 46.
2.
Press the Power on button on the front of your HP D2D Backup System. During power on the LEDs will
