HP ProtectTools Security features including the unique fingerprint reader on one model (hx2700 series) and HP ProtectTools on all models provide: ● User authentication ● Data encryption capabilities Fingerprint Reader protects the information on your HP iPAQ. With your HP iPAQ, this feature allows you to easily authenticate yourself by using your fingerprint or a combination of a PIN and/or fingerprint (available on HP iPAQ hx2700 series Pocket PC). With HP ProtectTools, you can easily secure your HP iPAQ by: ● Using a PIN or password to control access. ● Imposing industry-standard encryption to protect stored data. ● Providing fail-safe actions that automatically occur if your device is lost or stolen. By selecting either a PIN or password, you are assured that only you gain access to your HP iPAQ. Turning HP ProtectTools On or Off If you want to turn on the HP ProtectTools application or change any of your security information, you can do so easily. Tap the Yellow Lock icon in the Taskbar at the bottom of the Today screen. To lock your device or logoff, tap Start > Settings > HP ProtectTools. Selecting the Lock Device option allows you to manually lock your HP iPAQ, requiring authentication to access the device. Data and files are not encrypted. Selecting the Logoff option allows you to manually log off your HP iPAQ, requiring authentication to access the device. Data and files are encrypted.
