To avoid this error message, perform a conversational boot (using boot flags 0,1) and modify the GH_EXEC_DATA system parameter to 1536 from the default value of 1024 at the SYSBOOT prompt. For example: SYSBOOT> set gh_exec_data 1536 SYSBOOT> continue In addition, you must add the following line to SYS$SYSTEM:MODPARAMS.DAT, to ensure that AUTOGEN will compute a properly functioning value for GH_EXEC_DATA: ADD_GH_EXEC_DATA = 512 The AUTOGEN report file (SYS$SYSTEM:AGEN$PARAMS.REPORT) mistakenly does not report that GH_EXEC_DATA has been modified in MODPARAMS.DAT. These problems will be fixed in a future release of OpenVMS. Regards, Hewlett-Packard Company HP Part No. 5991-8664 2 May 2007

AUTOGEN does not properly size the amount of dynamic memory
When booting OpenVMS, or after doing an installation and running AUTOGEN, you
may
see the following
error message:
SYSTEM-F-INSFMEM, insufficient dynamic memory
This condition is caused by the type of I/O adapters you have in your system and the kinds of applications you
are trying to install on the operating system. To avoid this error message, perform a conversational boot (using
boot flags 0,1) and modify the GH_EXEC_DATA system parameter to 1536 from the default value of 1024 at
the SYSBOOT prompt. For example:
SYSBOOT> set gh_exec_data 1536
SYSBOOT> continue
In addition, you must add the following line to SYS$SYSTEM:MODPARAMS.DAT, to ensure that AUTOGEN
will compute a properly functioning value for GH_EXEC_DATA:
ADD_GH_EXEC_DATA = 512
The AUTOGEN report file (SYS$SYSTEM:AGEN$PARAMS.REPORT) mistakenly does not report that
GH_EXEC_DATA has been modified in MODPARAMS.DAT.
These problems will be fixed in a future release of OpenVMS.
