9. Depress the black retainer latch and rotate the purple locking lever over the retainer. The green power LED next to the slot turns on and the PCI Hot Plug 'n Play Wizard automatically starts on your Windows NT server. 10. Follow the instructions of the PCI Hot Plug 'n Play Wizard. Before the wizard completes, you may need to configure the adapter. For configuration instructions, refer to the documentation provided with your adapter. 11. Select Finish to close the wizard and complete the installation. DO NOT REBOOT. CAUTION Do not perform a Hot Add during periods when the NetServer is busy. Some drivers may disable interrupts for an excessive period during the Hot Add operation. Online Replacement (Hot Swapping) of a PCI Hot Plug Board: NOTE You can Hot Swap an adapter only if it is the passive adapter, or inactive adapter of a fault-tolerant pair. If an adapter in a fault-tolerant pair has failed: 1. Log on to Windows NT 4.0 as a user within the Administrator Group. 2. Open the PCI Hot Plug n' Play Wizard by selecting PCI Hot Plug Applications 3.0, then PCI Hot Swap Wizard from the Start Menu (the utility must already be installed as described in the previous section "Installing the PCI Hot Plug Software"). 3. When the wizard prompts you to swap the adapter, open the NetServer chassis in order to access the hot plug PCI slots. 4. Locate the slot with the failed adapter. The amber attention LED will be on. 5. Rotate the purple locking lever next to the slot (see illustration below). 6. Lift the black retainer (see illustration below). You may need to pull on the adjacent slot separator to eject the adapter from its slot. 8. Insert the replacement adapter board firmly into the slot. 9. Connect any applicable adapter cables. 10. Depress the black retainer latch and rotate the purple locking lever over the retainer. The PCI Hot Plug 'n Play Wizard will continue to run until the adapter configuration is complete. 2
