LAN connections and the SCSI adapters. There needs to be a minimum of 3 LAN connections per server (1 heartbeat and 2 public) and 2 SCSI adapters. In the examples, integrated LANs are used when possible. The table has 5 sections, one for each server, a storage section and a section for the rack components. The first server is a dual processor LC2000r with 1GHz Pentium III processors. Internal storage is configured with a NetRAID 1M controller to provide RAID capability for the two SCSI drives. The user could decide to change the number of drives, the NetRAID type, or even use internal SCSI with no RAID. The optional redundant power supply is also included. The user has the option of eliminating this if desired. The second server is a dual processor LP2000r with a 1.26GHz Pentium III. The internal storage must use the built in SCSI controller as there are not enough PCI slots to add an option NetRAID card. A basic LP1000r is used as a Quorum Server. The shared storage uses two RS/12, and extra SCSI cards to provide connectivity for the two servers, disks and cables. The user can change the number and types of disks. The only requirement is that the disks in each position of the RS/12s must match each other. A 1M cable was selected as to connect the SCSI controllers in the servers to the RS/12s. A 2.5M cable can be used if desired. The rack configuration in this case does not include an optional front door. A Flat Panel Monitor keyboard is used in this configuration with a 4-port console switch. Any of these components can be changed at the user's discretion. LAN connections and the SCSI adapters.
There needs to be a minimum of 3 LAN connections per server
(1 heartbeat and 2 public) and 2 SCSI adapters.
In the examples, integrated LANs are used when possible.
The table has 5 sections, one for each server, a storage section and a section for the rack components.
The first server is a dual processor LC2000r with 1GHz Pentium III processors.
Internal storage is
configured with a NetRAID 1M controller to provide RAID capability for the two SCSI drives.
The user
could decide to change the number of drives, the NetRAID type, or even use internal SCSI with no RAID.
The optional redundant power supply is also included.
The user has the option of eliminating this if
desired.
The second server is a dual processor LP2000r with a 1.26GHz Pentium III.
The internal storage must use
the built in SCSI controller as there are not enough PCI slots to add an option NetRAID card.
A basic LP1000r is used as a Quorum Server.
The shared storage uses two RS/12, and extra SCSI cards to provide connectivity for the two servers, disks
and cables.
The user can change the number and types of disks.
The only requirement is that the disks in
each position of the RS/12s must match each other. A 1M cable was selected as to connect the SCSI
controllers in the servers to the RS/12s.
A 2.5M cable can be used if desired.
The rack configuration in this case does not include an optional front door.
A Flat Panel Monitor keyboard
is used in this configuration with a 4-port console switch.
Any of these components can be changed at the
user’s discretion.
