How many channels are on the embedded Ultra 2 SCSI controller? A5. The Ultra 2 SCSI controller in the NetServer LC 2000 has two channels. Both Channel A and Channel B have cables attached to them. Channel B is used to connect to Common Tray devices using a self-terminated SCSI cable or to an external mass storage solution using additional D8600A cable kit. Channel A is connected to the Hot Swap hard disk cage. Q6. What is the maximum number of common tray internal disk drives support in the NetServer LC 2000? A6. The self-terminating SCSI cable has two 68-pin high-density connectors. The two 5 ¼ front accessible shelf can hold up to two devices. A maximum of two common tray internal disk drives are supported on LC 2000. One 68-pin connector can connect to the hard disk and one 68-pin connector with 68 to 50 pin adapter can connect to an SCSI tape drive. All systems are shipped with a 68 to 50 pin adapter pre installed on the SCSI cable. Q7. What type of SCSI controller is embedded on the system board of the NetServer LC 2000? A7. The NetServer LC 2000 has an embedded dual-channel Ultra 2 Wide PCI SCSI controller. Channel A is used for cabling the optional hard disk drive and one more additional SCSI drives (or optional SCSI tape drive). Channel A may be used to accommodate an external mass storage solution (either requires an additional cable kit-D8600A). Channel B is connected to Hot Swap drive cage. Q8.
