HP NetServer LH 3000/3000r and LC 2000/2000r 866-MHz/933-MHz Processor Upgrade Instructions Upgrading HP NetServer LH 3000/3000r and LC 2000/2000r to 866-MHz or 933-MHz Processors For upgrades to 866-MHz or faster processor modules, the order of procedures differs from the order listed in the HP NetServer LH 3000/3000r and LC 2000/2000r Processor Upgrade Guide supplied with the processor upgrade kit. To install 866-MHz or 933-MHz processor modules, follow the instructions on this sheet in the order listed below. Updating System BIOS Before you upgrade to 866-MHz or 933-MHz processor modules in HP NetServer LH 3000/3000r or LC 2000/2000r, you must update the system BIOS to support these processor modules. If you are adding an additional 866-MHz or 933-MHz processor module, you may need to update the system BIOS before you install the module. The HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM shipped with the 866-MHz or 933-MHz processor upgrade kit contains the required BIOS version. To update the system BIOS or to determine whether it needs updating, follow the instructions in Chapter 3 of the HP NetServer LH 3000/3000r and LC 2000/2000r Processor Upgrade Guide before installing 866-MHz or 933-MHz processor modules. Installing Processor Modules To install processor modules, follow the instructions in Chapter 1 or Chapter 2 of the HP NetServer LH 3000/3000r and LC 2000/2000r Processor Upgrade Guide, but set all configuration switches (including processor speed switches) to Off, as shown in Figure 1 or Figure 2. LC 2000/2000r Switch Settings Installing or Reconfiguring the NOS If you are performing the initial installation of the HP NetServer, configure the network operating system (NOS) as instructed in the installation guide for your HP NetServer. If you added an additional processor to an installed system, you may need to reconfigure your NOS before you can use the additional processor. To determine whether you must reconfigure your NOS, refer to your NOS documentation, the Readme file on the HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM, and the Network Operating System Installation Instructions available in the Configuration Advisor on the HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM. Upgrading HP NetServer LH 3000/3000r and LC 2000/2000r to 866-MHz or 933-MHz Processors
For upgrades to 866-MHz or faster processor modules, the order of procedures differs from the order listed in the
HP NetServer LH 3000/3000r and LC 2000/2000r Processor Upgrade Guide
supplied with the processor upgrade kit.
To install 866-MHz or 933-MHz processor modules, follow the instructions on this sheet in the order listed below.
Updating System BIOS
Before
you upgrade to 866-MHz or 933-MHz processor modules in HP NetServer LH 3000/3000r or LC 2000/2000r,
you
must
update the system BIOS to support these processor modules. If you are adding an additional 866-MHz or
933-MHz processor module, you may need to update the system BIOS
before
you install the module. The
HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM
shipped with the 866-MHz or 933-MHz processor upgrade kit contains the
required BIOS version.
To update the system BIOS or to determine whether it needs updating, follow the instructions in Chapter 3 of the
HP NetServer LH 3000/3000r and LC 2000/2000r Processor Upgrade Guide
before
installing 866-MHz or 933-MHz
processor modules.
Installing Processor Modules
To install processor modules, follow the instructions in Chapter 1 or Chapter 2 of the
HP NetServer LH 3000/3000r
and LC 2000/2000r Processor Upgrade Guide
, but set all configuration switches (including processor speed switches)

Installing or Reconfiguring the NOS
If you are performing the initial installation of the HP NetServer, configure the network operating system (NOS) as
instructed in the installation guide for your HP NetServer.
If you added an additional processor to an installed system, you may need to reconfigure your NOS before you can use
the additional processor. To determine whether you must reconfigure your NOS, refer to your NOS documentation, the
Readme file on the
