HP NetServer LH 3000/3000r and LC 2000/2000r 866-MHz/933-MHz Processor Upgrade Instructions Upgrading HP NetServer LH 3000/3000r and LC 2000/2000r to 866-MHz or 933-MHz Processors For upgrades to 866-MHz or faster processor modules, the order of procedures differs from the order listed in the HP NetServer LH 3000/3000r and LC 2000/2000r Processor Upgrade Guide supplied with the processor upgrade kit. To install 866-MHz or 933-MHz processor modules, follow the instructions on this sheet in the order listed below. Updating System BIOS Before you upgrade to 866-MHz or 933-MHz processor modules in HP NetServer LH 3000/3000r or LC 2000/2000r, you must update the system BIOS to support these processor modules. If you are adding an additional 866-MHz or 933-MHz processor module, you may need to update the system BIOS before you install the module. The HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM shipped with the 866-MHz or 933-MHz processor upgrade kit contains the required BIOS version. To update the system BIOS or to determine whether it needs updating, follow the instructions in Chapter 3 of the HP NetServer LH 3000/3000r and LC 2000/2000r Processor Upgrade Guide before installing 866-MHz or 933-MHz processor modules. Installing Processor Modules To install processor modules, follow the instructions in Chapter 1 or Chapter 2 of the HP NetServer LH 3000/3000r and LC 2000/2000r Processor Upgrade Guide, but set all configuration switches (including processor speed switches) to Off, as shown in Figure 1 or Figure 2. To determine whether you must reconfigure your NOS, refer to your NOS documentation, the Readme file on the HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM, and the Network Operating System Installation Instructions available in the Configuration Advisor on the HP NetServer Navigator CD-ROM.
