HP Netserver LXr 8500 with EMC Symmetrix® Windows® 2000 Datacenter Server Configuration Guide 2 July, 2001 (see Versions at the end of this document) Introduction This document defines the supported Microsoft Windows® 2000 Datacenter Server configurations with the HP Netserver LXr 8500 and the EMC Symmetrix storage enclosure, version 4.8. These configurations minimize single points of failure (SPOF), provide high availability, and have been certified by HewlettPackard and Microsoft® . What's Defined in a Datacenter Cluster •Cluster •SPUs •Local and Shared Storage •Intra-cluster and Client LANs •Shared Storage Cabling Cluster Type of SPUs Number of nodes Shared Storage LANs: Client LAN Intra-cluster (Heartbeat) LAN System software: HP Netserver LXr 8500 Each node is the same SPU, with the same CPU clock speeds and cache sizes. Mixed stepping of CPUs with the same processor speed and cache size is supported if the stepping differs by not more than one level.
