Installation 12 If the system is to be rack mounted, install it into the rack. 13 Plug in the power cord(s), all other cables, and terminators for the system. 14 Turn on the power for the system and boot the operating system. 15 If the system does not already support PCI cards (through the use of PMC cards), log in as root and use the SAM utility to configure the HP-UX kernel for PCI support. 16 When SAM has started, choose the Kernel Configuration -> menu. 17 From the Kernel Configuration menu, choose Drivers 18 From the Drivers menu, select GSCtoPCI Driver. 19 Go to the Actions menu and select Add Driver to Kernel. 20 Now go to the Actions menu and select Create a New Kernel. 21 A window pops up and asks you if you want to create a new kernel now Choose Yes. 22 When the new kernel is built, SAM asks if you want to move the kernel into place and reboot. Choose OK. 23 A window pops up and states that the newly created configuration file will be copied to /stand/system. Choose OK. The system reboots with the PCI driver loaded. 12
