Multimedia Using the Audio-In (Microphone) Jack The audio-in jack, identified in the following illustration, connects an optional monaural (single sound channel) microphone. The audio-in jack is sometimes called a microphone jack. It is recommended that you use an electret condenser microphone with a 3.5-mm plug. If you connect a dynamic microphone, the recommended sensitivity may not be achieved. External Video Devices Connecting an S-Video Device (Select Models Only) Connecting the Audio The S-Video-out jack (select models only) supports video signals only. If you are setting up a configuration that combines audio and video functions, such as playing a DVD movie on your notebook and displaying it on your television, you need a standard 3.5-mm audio cable available from most computer or electronics retailers. 4-4 Hardware and Software Guide
