Loading a Compact Disc into a Vertical CD-ROM Drive Precautions Follow these precautions for the best care of your CD-ROM drive and discs. Drive Precautions s Keep the original packing materials for future transportation of the drive. s Avoid exposing the drive to sudden changes in temperature, as condensation may form inside the unit. If the temperature suddenly changes while the drive is on, wait at least one hour before you turn off the power. If you operate the unit immediately, it may malfunction while reading. s Avoid placing the drive in a location that is subject to high humidity, extreme temperatures, mechanical vibration, or direct sunlight. s Make sure there is sufficient clearance for the disc to be ejected from the slot.
