3 Rolling Upgrades NOTE: Before starting the upgrade process, follow the steps in the new Entitlement Certificate to obtain a license for the 3.6.0 code. There are no temporary licenses embedded in the 3.6.0 code, so you must obtain a new 3.6.0 license. By following the steps in the Entitlement Certificate, you will have all necessary components for the upgrade, which should allow you to more quickly complete the upgrade process. Overview This chapter describes how to perform a rolling upgrade of HP Clustered File System and FS Option for Windows. Upgrades are supported from HP Clustered File System 3.4.x and FS Option for Windows 3.4.x. Custom Installations of HP Clustered File System When you upgrade HP Clustered File System, the Installer looks for the cluster configuration files in the location where HP Clustered File System is currently installed and then applies the configuration files to the new installation. If you perform a custom installation of HP Clustered File System 3.6.0 and specify a new location for the cluster software, the Installer will not be able to locate the existing configuration files. To avoid this problem, take one of these steps: • If HP Clustered File System is currently installed in a custom location, install HP Clustered File System 3.6.0 in the same location. 8

When you upgrade HP Clustered File System, the Installer looks for the
