Chapter 3 Installing and Configuring 3. Remove the left side cover. 4. Lay the server on its side (components showing). 5. Disconnect the heat sink cooling fan power cable from the connector on the system board. 6. Open the heat sink release latches by pressing down on the latches and unhooking them from the heat sink bracket. Then, remove the heat sink by lifting it. See Figure 3-15. CAUTION Wear a wrist-strap and use a static-dissipating work surface connected to the chassis when handling components. Ensure the metal of the wrist-strap contacts your skin. 2. Open the ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) lever completely to allow removal of the processor. 32
