Installation Your HP Server must be powered down and opened to install the SCSI accessory cable. Refer to your HP Server Operations and Maintenance Guide for procedures to power down and open the server. Take the following steps to install the SCSI accessory cable: 1. If the server is operating, log off all users, back up files, and power down the server. 2. Disconnect the power cord and any external cables connected to the server. If necessary, label each one to expedite re-assembly. 3. Open the server to gain access to the system board and the mass storage drive cage. 4. Install the accessory mass storage drive following the instructions included with the mass storage drive installation kit. 5. Connect the SCSI accessory cable system board connector to the system board. The example in Figure 2 shows the SCSI accessory cable connected to the SCSI A connector on the system board. 6. Connect the remaining end of the SCSI accessory cable to the mass storage drive. If the mass storage drive has a 50-pin connector, connect the cable to the drive using a 50-to-68 pin adaptor, as shown in Figure 2. 7. Secure the SCSI accessory cable to cable clamps in the server. The example in Figure 2 shows the terminator secured by a cable clamp. Installation

Take the following steps to install the SCSI accessory cable:
1.
If the server is operating, log off all users, back up files, and power down the server.
2.
Disconnect the power cord and any external cables connected to the server. If necessary, label each one to expedite
re-assembly.
3.
Open the server to gain access to the system board and the mass storage drive cage.
4.
Install the accessory mass storage drive following the instructions included with the mass storage drive installation
kit.
5.
Connect the SCSI accessory cable system board connector to the system board. The example in
Figure 2
shows the
SCSI accessory cable connected to the SCSI A connector on the system board.
6.
Connect the remaining end of the SCSI accessory cable to the mass storage drive. If the mass storage drive has a
50-pin connector, connect the cable to the drive using a 50-to-68 pin adaptor, as shown in
Figure 2
.
7.
Secure the SCSI accessory cable to cable clamps in the server. The example in
Figure 2
shows the terminator secured
by a cable clamp.

8.
Close the server and replace the external cables and power cord.
9.
Power up the server and return it to normal operation.
