HP-UX - Potential Conflict Between Command View and ioscan

Page 12 highlights

Known Issues Director Properties Description May Be Incorrect The text shown in the Description field of the Director Properties panel for the Director 2/140 may be incorrect. It may show SAN Director 64. This has no effect on the operation of the Director 2/140. This is a user-configurable description for the director, and may be changed to whatever you want by choosing Configure > Identification using HAFM, or by choosing Configure > Director > Identification using the Embedded Web Server interface. IML Is Required After Performing a Configuration Reset If a Reset Configuration is performed on a Director 2/140 to reset the director to factory configuration, an initial machine load (IML) is required to be performed to complete the process. This is done by pressing the white button on the front of either CTP card for more than three seconds. This can also be accomplished by turning the power to the Director 2/140 off, and then back on. HP-UX - Potential Conflict Between Command View and ioscan There is an issue involving a conflict between the Command View host agent and the UNIX command ioscan. When this conflict is encountered, ioscan may erroneously report that storage LUNs have been lost (ioscan output results in report of "NO_HW"). There is no actual impact on any of the servers, storage, or any fibre channel data transfers. When encountered, re-running ioscan after a short time will yield correct results. The OpenView Storage Area Manager (OVSAM) Command View Host agent on HP-UX has a discovery agent (diald) which periodically checks the system for new I/O devices including HBAs. The default polling cycle is 19 minutes but is user configurable from 1 minute to 24 hours. The Command View products use this host agent component for discovery of XP and VA arrays. 12 Director Release Notes
