Intended Audience Intended Audience This document is intended for HP technicians and customers who purchased the SAN Switch 2/8 EL and SAN Switch 2/8 power pak models. Purpose of Release The purpose of the SAN Switch 2/8 v3.1.x release is to provide the optional Secure Fabric OS feature, a comprehensive security product. Refer to the HP StorageWorks Secure Fabric OS Version 1.0 User Guide, for detailed information about how to integrate Security into your SAN. Supported Configurations For the latest supported configuration, please refer to the HP StorageWorks SAN Product Support Tables for the SAN Design Reference Guide, part number AV-RNZEM-TE, available at: http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/storageworks/san/documentation.html Note: HP recommends that all switches in the SAN operate using the same revision of firmware. Or, in a mixed switch environment, that all switches operate with the latest supported firmware. New Features and Enhancements Secure Fabric OS v3.1.x provides the following enhancements and new features relative to the previously released firmware version (v3.0.2), including: ■ Support for the optionally licensed Secure Fabric OS product. Secure Fabric OS includes the following features: - A new, centralized fabric management model, in which all fabric-wide management operations must originate from the Fabric Configuration Server, or trusted switch. - Management Access Controls to secure and limit all means of switch and fabric management. 4 SAN Switch 2/8 Version 3.1.x Release Notes
