FCIP performance enhancements Fabric OS 6.1.x increases committed rate tunnel performance (utilization) when compressibility exceeds 2:1. Previous firmware releases capped FC data rates to 2 times the committed rate of the FCIP tunnel. As a result, as compression ratio increases beyond 2:1, FC throughput remains constant at 2 times the committed rate, and the link utilization decreases. Fabric OS 6.1.x now monitors compressibility, adjusts to more compressible data, and works to fill the FCIP tunnel to the committed rate. Port Fencing Fabric OS 6.1.x includes new Port Fencing capabilities that can automatically isolate a port that is behaving outside the bounds of a normal, expected operation. This enhances overall stability of the fabric in the event of an isolated event that could otherwise cause a major disruption if left unattended. The Port Fencing capability is included as part of the optionally licensed Fabric Watch feature. LDAP FOS 6.1 includes enhancements to LDAP allowing Active Directory server roles to be mapped to the various switch roles. Parameter added for slotshow command An optional -m parameter has been added for the slotshow command, to display Model Names for each blade installed in a DC SAN Backbone Director or 4/256 SAN Director chassis. Scripting Many automatic page breaks in CLI output for commands have been removed to better facilitate scripting. Notification of duplicate WWN entry RASLOG entry when a switch detects a duplicate WWN has logged in. Secure Fabric OS (SFOS) feature not compatible with Fabric OS 6.x and later The last Fabric OS version which was compatible with SFOS is Fabric OS 5.3.x. However, all of the security features of SFOS have been fully integrated into the base Fabric OS, beginning with Fabric OS 5.3.x and later. Prerequisites Table 1 summarizes current Fabric OS firmware versions. However, HP recommends using the latest supported firmware release versions to get the greatest benefit from the SAN. For a list of retired products, see the HP website: http://www.hp.com IMPORTANT: The Fabric OS versions listed in the Earliest compatible version column below are the earliest versions supported by HP at the time Fabric OS 6.1.0c released. 8
