4 Migrating multi-path cluster systems This chapter provides procedural steps to migrate existing multi-path cluster MSA1000 and MSA1500 disk arrays in Windows environments from active/passive to active/active processing. IMPORTANT: Before proceeding, you must understand the following limitations associated with the upgrade: • If HP MPIO Manager for MSA Arrays is installed, it can not be accessed through HP Insight Manager. • If HP StorageWorks Secure Path for Windows is installed, it cannot access or manage HP StorageWorks active/active MSA1000 and MSA1500 disk arrays. • MSA1000 environments must have 256MB or greater cache modules installed; 128MB cache modules are not supported in MSA1000 active/active environments. • It is not possible to migrate back to active/passive firmware. Re-loading the older firmware will result in the loss of all configuration information on the MSA. CAUTION: A full backup of the Windows system OS and data volumes is required before starting the upgrade process. HP is not responsible for any data loss incurred during the upgrade process. Migrating multi-path cluster systems
This chapter provides procedural steps to migrate existing multi-path cluster MSA1000 and MSA1500 disk
arrays in Windows environments from active/passive to active/active processing.
IMPORTANT:
Before proceeding, you must understand the following limitations associated with the
upgrade:
If HP MPIO Manager for MSA Arrays is installed, it can not be accessed through HP Insight Manager.
If HP StorageWorks Secure Path for Windows is installed, it cannot access or manage HP
StorageWorks active/active MSA1000 and MSA1500 disk arrays.
MSA1000 environments must have 256MB or greater cache modules installed; 128MB cache modules
are not supported in MSA1000 active/active environments.
It is not possible to migrate back to active/passive firmware. Re-loading the older firmware will result in
the loss of all configuration information on the MSA.
CAUTION:
A full backup of the Windows system OS and data volumes is required before starting the
upgrade process. HP is not responsible for any data loss incurred during the upgrade process.
