Depending on your environment, see the following cable connection
sections:
Connect drive enclosures to the P2000 G3 MSA System
Connect remote management hosts to the network
Connect the P2000 G3 MSA System to servers
Connect drive enclosures to the P2000 G3
MSA System
The P2000 G3 MSA System supports four models of drive enclosures:
HP StorageWorks P2000 6Gb 3.5
12
drive enclosure
HP StorageWorks D2700 6Gb drive enclosure
HP StorageWorks MSA2000 3Gb 3.5
12
drive enclosure
HP StorageWorks MSA70 3Gb drive enclosure
Observe the following guidelines when connecting drive enclosures to
the P2000 G3 MSA System:
Use only supported SAS 4x cables.
Mini-SAS to mini-SAS 0.5m cables are provided with the P2000 6Gb
3.5
12
drive enclosure, D2700 6Gb drive enclosure, and MSA70
3Gb drive enclosure (one per controller).
SAS to SAS 0.6m cables are provided with the MSA2000 3Gb 3.5"
12-drive enclosure (one per I/O module).
Longer cables than those supplied with the enclosure must be pur-
chased separately. See the MSA Quick Specs for details.
The maximum length cable allowed in any configuration is 2m.
A maximum of eight (8) enclosures (including the array enclosure)
OR one hundred forty-nine (149) drives are allowed in the array
configuration.
This document does not include configuration information or illustrations
for connecting the P2000 G3 to multiple drive enclosures. For information
on these configurations, see the
HP StorageWorks P2000 G3 MSA
System cable configuration guide
.
NOTE:
Mixing 3Gb drive enclosures with 6Gb controller enclosures or
drive enclosures may result in data throughput at the lower
3Gbps data rate, depending on the configuration. For complete
information on data throughput rate limitations, see the
HP
StorageWorks P2000 G3 MSA System cable configuration
guide
.
