IMPORTANT For Library Models 2/20, 4/40, 6/60, 6/140 and 10/100 and the 1/9 Tape Autoloader Please read this document before replacing this component. Failure to follow these instructions may result in the device not functioning or being put into the partial availability state. All library/autoloader components (controller card, transport assembly, fibre channel cards, remote management card, and drives) must be at the same firmware revision. If they are not, the library will go into the partial availability state. The library will still function, but will have an amber light on the front LED bar, and the words "PARTLY AVAILABLE" will be displayed on the front panel. To resolve this condition, download new library firmware. Consult your user manual or contact your service provider on how to download firmware. Please see the reverse side when replacing any of the following FRUs: FIBRE CHANNEL INTERFACE CARD(S) REMOTE MANAGEMENT CARD Drive Assemblies All drives of the same type within this product must be at the same drive firmware revision or the library will come up in a partial availability state. The library will still function, but will have an amber light on the front LED bar, and the words "PARTLY AVAILABLE" will be displayed on the front panel. To resolve this condition, download firmware to the drives to bring all drives to the same firmware revision. Consult your user manual or contact your service provider on how to download firmware. DLT 8000 Drive Assemblies with part numbers of C7200-60108 or higher and C7200-60102 or higher have a MINIMUM library firmware requirement of revision level 1.10.x (where "x" is any number or letter). Any attempt to use these drives on a library with older firmware will result in hard errors. To resolve this condition, download at least the minimum required library firmware revision. Consult your user manual or contact your service provider on how to download firmware. DLT1 In order for a 1/9 Autoloader to be compatible with a DLT1 tape drive, the autoloader must have a MINIMUM of firmware revis ion 2.10.x (where "x" is any number or letter). If the autoloader firmware is less than revision 2.10.x and a DLT1 is installed, the autoloader will fail almost immediately on power up with an "I2CRECVBADTYPE" error message. Power off the unit, remove the DLT1 tape drive, and power the unit back on to clear the error state. HP Ultrium (LTO) In order for the 2/20, 4/40, 6/60, 6/140 and 10/100 tape libraries to be compatible with an HP Ultrium tape drive, the libraries must have a MINIMUM of firmware revision 1.22.x (where "x" is any number or letter). In order for a 1/9 Autoloader to be compatible with an HP Ultrium tape drive, the autoloader must have a MINIMUM of firmware revision 2.22.x (where "x" is any number or letter). If the library firmware is less than revision 1.22.x or the autoloader firmware is less than 2.22.x, and a HP Ultrium Tape drive is installed, the autoloader will fail almost immediately on power up with an "I2CRECVBADTYPE" error message. Power off the unit, remove the HP Ultrium tape drive, and power the unit back on to clear the error state. NOTE: Firmware revisions 1.22.x and 2.22.x (and all revisions that will follow) require a library controller board with 8MB of RAM on it. There are a small number of controller boards in the field with 4MB of RAM. If firmware download fails by hanging at 1/18 of the controller code, then it is likely a 4MB board. In this situation the controller board may need to be exchanged for a C7200-60206 for LVDS or a C7200-60201 for HVDS.
