Installing Microsoft Windows XP Operating System Install Microsoft Windows XP in IDE mode before downloading drivers. Complete the following: 1. Turn on or restart the computer. 2. As soon as the computer is turned on, press F10 to enter BIOS. 3. Select Advanced Tab and change the SATA 1 Controller mode from AHCI to IDE. NOTE: It is recommended that you update to Microsoft XP Service Pack 3. By downgrading to XP you will not be able to take advantage of the full 4GB of RAM that comes as default on the HP dx9000 TouchSmart or TouchSmart 9100. Due to limited driver support for Microsoft Windows XP, you may have additional items in Device Manager that do not have drivers. Install Microsoft Windows XP in IDE mode before downloading drivers. Complete the following:
1.
Turn on or restart the computer.
2.
As soon as the computer is turned on, press F10 to enter BIOS.
3.
Select Advanced Tab and change the SATA 1 Controller mode from AHCI to IDE.
NOTE
: It is recommended that you update to Microsoft XP Service Pack 3.
