2 Using the Automatic Installation Packages How to Install Individual Components Locally How to Install Individual Components Locally You can install individual drivers or software utilities by: • Using the Image Library and Diagnostics CD-ROM. To do this, locate the desired component for your operating system, then run the Setup.exe file. For more information about the directory structure of the CD-ROM, refer to the online guide provided on the CD-ROM. • Downloading Image Library drivers and utilities from the HP support web site, copying the files to the target PC's hard disk drive, then running the setup.exe file. Troubleshooting • If you encountered any problems installing a component, you can try to install it manually using the installation files that were extracted from the setup.exe file to the target PC's hard disk in the \Masters directory. For instructions about manual installation, consult the WhatsNew.htm file provided with the Image Library driver or utility. • If you encountered any problems installing the LAN driver, you must first remove the driver before trying to install it again. For example, to do this in Windows NT 4.0, click Start Settings Control Panel, double-click Network, click the Adapters tab, select the driver and click Remove. 17
