Linux System Setup and Recovery Configuring Your Linux Workstation System Time, Timezone and Date Parameters The "Time/Timezone" tab at the top of the Setup Tool screen will display the window shown below which is used for setting your system time and date. In the "Time:" box, you may type the current time using the 24-hour clock. In the "Day:" box, you may type the current day of the month. Pull down the "Month:" menu to select the current month. In the "Year:" box, you may type the year. Time Zone Click the "Geographical Location" button at the top of the window to select your location, if it is not "U.S." Use the scroll bar to show your city/time zone, then click on it. Click "Save" to use these selections and close this window. This step creates a symbolic link from /etc/localtime to /usr/share/zoneinfo/. Selecting the "Set time on Save" option causes setparms to set and save the system clock and the hardware clock with the time and date specified in the "Time" and date fields. Time Zone
