A backup will be needed to retain any of the data stored in your current hard disks. If you have the hp workstation x4000 recovery CD (pn A6068-92101) it does not include the SCSI RAID driver. To install Windows 2000 you will need the updated version of the hp workstation x4000 recovery CD (pn A6068-91018). For the updated CD please contact any support center listed in the following URL: http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/eng/contact_us.htm. To successfully install the Adaptec RAID card, driver and software, you will need: 1. The Adaptec RAID 2100S CD 2. The Adaptec RAID 2100S card 3. hp workstation x4000 Recovery CD 4. Adaptec RAID Installation Guide found on the Adaptec RAID 2100S CD or can also be found at http://www.hp.com/workstations/support/documentation/win_manuals.html NOTE: This procedure is for workstations that either do not have an operating system installed or in which a RAID system is being created with an operating system already installed. If your operating system is already installed, you must back up your data before proceeding with the RAID installation procedure. For a detailed description of the installation process, refer to the Adaptec RAID Installation Guide. Hardware Installation 1. Turn off your workstation and remove the power cord from the back. 2. Remove the side cover. 3. Disconnect the SCSI cable from the system board. 4. Install the RAID card in any of the three 33MHz slots closest to the processor. 5.
