Issue: Disk Management snap-in fails The Disk Management snap-in can fail in the following instances: • If multiple Server Manager instances are open and the Disk Management snap-in in is selected in more than one Server Manager instance • If the Disk Management snap-in is opened in Server Manager and also from the Disk Manager console in Administrative tools • If multiple Disk Management snap-ins are opened in Server Manager Workaround: This is a Microsoft issue which will be resolved in a future release. To work around this issue, use only one Disk Management snap-in instance at a time. Additional applications and utilities This section provides additional information on using certain applications and utilities on the storage system. Issue: The HP Lights-Out Configuration Utility fails to launch. HP ProLiant 100-series storage servers that have been upgraded to the Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2008 operating system do not support launching the HP Lights-Out Configuration Utility from Server Manager or the HP StorageWorks Rapid Startup Wizard. Workaround: Refer to the HP Lights-Out 100 product documentation for details on configuring the HP Lights-Out 100 remote management hardware. Issue: PS/2 Drivers for keyboard and mouse reported as not loaded on some storage systems. In the Problem Reports and Solutions page of Windows Storage Server 2008 (Start > All Programs > Maintenance > Problem Reports and Solutions), the PS/2 keyboard and PS/2 mouse driver status lists the error Could not load the driver software. This error occurs only on HP X1600 Network Storage Systems, HP X1800sb and X3800sb Network Storage Blades, and HP ProLiant DL160 G5 Storage Servers that have been upgraded to the Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2008 operating system. Workaround: This error can be safely ignored. To clear the error message, under Tasks, click Clear solution and problem history. Issue: DFS and NFS errors logged in Event Viewer There may be errors from DFS and NFS logged in the Event Viewer after the storage system is configured. Workaround: These errors can be ignored. Issue: The Create LUN operation fails The Storage Manager for SAN Create LUN operation fails if there are no free physical disks. Workaround: This failure occurs when there are no unused physical disks available to create a new LUN. To work around this issue, use the Array Configuration Utility to create the LUNs. 6
