These connectors establish the primary and secondary SATA controllers and determine the boot priority of each SATA hard drive. Connect the SATA data cable to the appropriate color-coded SATA connector on the system board. Workstation Cable Configurations If you are connecting SATA hard drives to an HP Workstation with a RAID card configuration, consult the Service and Technical Reference Guide for detailed installation instructions. This guide is available on www.hp.com/support/workstation_manuals. Use the cable and cable orientation that fits best and consider the following guidelines: • If you are plugging into an add-in card that came with a cable, use that cable. • Any cable that physically fits will work; electrically it does not matter which cable you use or which end is plugged into the system board. • If you have a long PCI card installed and you are plugging into the system board, select a cable and orientation that does not interfere with the PCI card.
