JPEG is one of the photo image compression standards. It is widely used in digital still cameras since JPEG files can be used on ordinary PC. When this DVD video camera/recorder records on DVD-RAM disc in "N PHOTO" status, a JPEG photo will be recorded, along with a photo that conforms to the DVD video recording (DVD-VR) format which is used to be output to TV (see "Terminology", P. 160). Only JPEG photos will be recorded on SD memory card.
