Quick Start Guide 5000 Watt Portable Generator WARNING: This Quick Start Guide is not a substitute for reading the operator's manual. To reduce the risk of injury or death, user must read and understand operator's manual before using this product. WARNING: Do not connect to a building's electrical system unless the generator and transfer switch have been properly installed and the electrical output has been verified by a qualified electrician. ITEMS INCLUDED: Operator's Manual Generator with Portability Kit Engine Lubricant ITEMS NEEDED: Utility Knife 7/16 in. Socket Wrench T27 Torx Driver Oil Funnel Unleaded Fuel 1 unpack generator (a) Do not attempt to lift generator out of the carton. Cut each corner of the carton to open and lay carton flat. (b) Prior to assembly check to ensure you have all the included items. If items are missing or damaged call 1-800-242-4672. 3 ADD lubricant and FUEL (a) Move generator ouside to a flat, level surface. (b) Remove oil cap/dipstick. (c) Use a funnel to pour the supplied lubricant into the engine. Fill to the upper mark of the oil dipstick. Use caution to avoid spilling. (d) Replace oil cap/dipstick. (e) Remove fuel cap and fill with REGULAR UNLEADED fuel. Do not overfill. Keep maximum fuel level 1 inch below the top of the fuel tank. (f) Replace fuel cap. 4 MOVE GENERATOR TO SAFE OPERATING LOCATION (a) Move generator outside to a flat, level surface, away from doors, windows and vents. Typical Generator Shown Exhaust Port Pointed away from dwelling openings 5 start generator (a) Turn fuel valve under tank to the ON position. (b) Move choke lever fully to the right. (c) Select the ON position on the engine switch. (d) Start generator by slowly pulling on the recoil starter grip until resistance is felt. Then pull cord rapidly to overcome compression to start engine. (e) Slowly move choke lever fully to the left as engine warms. a c d 6 using generator (a) With generator running, power is now provided to the receptacles. (b) Allow generator to warm up for 3 to 5 minutes, then plug in items to be powered, using only grounded extension cords. WARNING: DO NOT overload generator or electrical cords. 7 shut down and storage procedures (a) Before shutting engine off, unplug all electrical loads. (b) Let engine run for 2 minutes. (c) Turn engine switch to OFF. (d) Turn fuel valve to OFF. (e) If generator is to be stored for longer than 30 days, refer to the operator's manual for further instructions. 2 basic assembly (a) Move generator to a flat, level surface. (b) If desired, install frame supports and wheels with enclosed hardware.
