TROUBLESHOOTING WARNING ANYONE using or servicing the generator must read, understand, and follow all safety and operation instructions provided in the product manual. Failure to closely follow these instructions can result in circumstances leading to death, serious injury, and property damage. DANGER Using a generator indoors CAN KILL YOU IN MINUTES. Generator exhaust contains carbon monoxide. This is a poison you cannot see or smell. NEVER use inside a home or garage, EVEN IF doors and windows are open. Only use OUTSIDE and far away from windows, doors, and vents. NOTE: For all customer service inquiries, call 1-888-494-3571 or visit www.honeywellgenerators.com. PROBLEM Engine will not start or starts and runs rough Engine suddenly stops PROBABLE CAUSE Engine switch or fuel valve off. No fuel. Stale fuel. No or low engine oil. Spark plug wire (cap) disconnected. Faulty/bad spark plug. Choke position. Dirty air filter. Dirty fuel filter. Dirty spark arrestor screen. No fuel. No or low engine oil. Fuel cap vent closed. Electrical overload on generator. Electrical overload on generator. No power at receptacle Circuit breaker defective. Poor connection or defective cord. Connected electrical appliance/ equipment is defective. TABLE 9. Troubleshooting - Probable Causes and Solutions SOLUTION Turn engine switch or fuel valve on. Add fuel (page 22). Drain fuel tank; fill with fresh fuel (page 22). Add engine oil (page 19). Install spark plug cap over spark plug. Check/replace spark plug (page 25). Turn choke on. Clean or replace air filter (page 23). Replace fuel filter. Clean spark arrestor screen (page 26). Add fuel (page 22). Add engine oil (page 19). Turn fuel cap vent on (HW1000i only). Try to restart generator and verify if overload indicator light is illuminated. Disconnect load, restart generator, reduce load, and reconnect to generator. If the overload indicator light is illuminated, disconnect the load and turn the generator off. Restart the generator and wait for the output ready indicator light to illuminate green and stay on. Reduce load and reconnect to generator. Check circuit breaker for "tripped' position. Reduce the load on the receptacle(s) and reset the breaker. Set Tripped Replace circuit breaker. Check cord connection. Replace defective cord. Check electrical appliance/equipment for defects. Disconnect defective appliance/equipment from the generator.
