Set Up
Preparation for
Cleaning
1. Vacuum carpet.
2. Test detergent for
colorfastness.
3. Pretreat spots, stains
and high traffic areas
with HOOVER Spot &
Stain Spray Cleaner.
4. Pull up on solution
tank handle and
remove tank.
5. Turn tank upside
down, remove cap and
pour detergent into
tank to fill line.
Fill tank completely
with hot tap water.
6. Replace cap.
7. Place tank back onto
cleaner, pressing firm-
ly to be sure tank is
fully positioned.
Clean Up
1. Clean carpet or
upholstery:
• Squeeze and hold
trigger. Slowly move
cleaner back and
forth.
• Release trigger and
slowly go over the
same area to pick up
dirty solution.
• Tough spots and
stains may need
additional treatment
with Spot & Stain
Spray Cleaner.
2. Listen! When the
motor sound rises in
pitch or changes, the
recovery tank needs to
be emptied. When the
recovery tank is full,
the cleaner will no
longer pick up dirty
solution.
3. While damp, apply
HOOVER Carpet &
Upholstery Protectant.
4. Allow time for the
carpet or upholstery to
dry.
Maintenance
Clean the brushes
Unplug extractor from
electrical outlet.
1. Remove tanks to pre-
vent possible leaks.
2. Tilt extractor back so
handle rests on floor.
3. Remove carpet fibers
or strings attached to
brushes.
Storing your
extractor
1. Empty solution tank,
rinse thoroughly.
2. Replace empty
tank on
extractor. Turn extractor
ON, squeeze trigger
and push extractor for-
ward and back several
times, picking up liquid
on floor.
3. Empty recovery tank -
step on handle release
pedal and lower han-
dle. Lift up on tank
and pull off. Lift up on
tank lid latches and re-
move tank lid and
float. Rinse thoroughly
and air dry.
4. Allow brushes and
underside of extractor
to air dry thoroughly
before storing on car-
peted or wood surface.
5. Push up on handle
collar and lower tele-
scoping handle. Rotate
handle release knob
backwards to drop
upper handle into
storage position.
