MAINTENANCE If the machine is low on power, difficult to start or runs poorly at idle speed: always check the spark plug first before taking any further action. If the spark plug is dirty, clean it and check that the electrode gap is 0,026 inch (0,65 mm). The spark plug should be replaced after about a month in operation or earlier if necessary. 0,65 Cleaning the air filter Close the choke valve by moving the choke control up. CAUTION! Always use the recommended spark plug type! Use of the wrong spark plug can damage the piston/ cylinder. Check that the spark plug is fitted with a suppressor. Air filter The air filter must be regularly cleaned to remove dust and dirt in order to avoid: • Carburettor malfunctions • Starting problems • Loss of engine power • Unnecessary wear to engine parts • Excessive fuel consumption. Remove the air filter cover and take out the filter. Wash it clean in warm, soapy water. Clean also the inside of the filter cover by using air or a brush. Ensure that the filter is dry before refitting it. Remove the Felt filter from the filter holder and gently brush debris from the filter. Check the rubber sealing surface. Change the filter on the rubber seal if damaged. An air filter that has been in use for a long time cannot be cleaned completely. The filter must therefore be replaced with a new one at regular intervals. A damaged air filter must always be replaced. Damaged, very dirty, or fuelsoaked air filter must always be replaced. Bevel gear The bevel gear is filled with the right quantity of grease at the factory. However, before using the machine you should check that the bevel gear is filled three-quarters full with grease. Use HUSQVARNA special grease. Clean the filter every 25 hours, or more regularly if conditions are exceptionally dusty. The grease in the bevel gear does not normally need to be changed except if repairs are carried out. CAUTION! Use only HUSQVARNA replacement parts. Use of other brands of replacement parts can cause damage to your unit or injury to the operator or others. Your warranty does not cover damage or liability caused by the use of accessories and/or attachments not specifically recommended by HUSQVARNA. 20 - English 1154519-49 Rev. 4 2013-08-12
