OPERATION 4. Move the steering / park brake controls out to the locked position. 8. Set the engine speed with the throttle. Allow the engine to run at a moderate speed, approximately mid throttle, for a short time before use. 9. USE FULL THROTTLE WHEN MOWING. Running 1. Release the park brake by pulling the steering / park brake controls inwards to the neutral position. NOTE: The mower is equipped with an operator presence system. When the engine is running, any attempt by the operator to leave the seat without first setting the park brake will shut off the engine. 2. Lower the mower deck to the desired cutting height. 5. Move the throttle to the middle position. If the engine is cold, the choke control should be pulled up. 3. Move throttle control to full throttle (rabbit symbol). 4. Engage the mower deck by pulling the blade switch up. 6. Press in and turn the ignition key to the start position. 7. When the engine starts, immediately release the ignition key back to the run position. Push the choke control in gradually when the engine has started. 5. Rotate control levers inward and slowly move both control levers slightly forward to move forward in a straight line. IMPORTANT INFORMATION Do not run the starter for more than 5 seconds each time. If the engine does not start, wait approximately 10 seconds before retrying. WARNING! Make sure that no one is near mower when engaging blade switch. Make sure the work area is free from objects that could be thrown by the rotating blades. WARNING! Do not drive up or down hills with slopes greater than 10 degrees. Do not drive across slopes. 17
