Chapter 1: Product Overview 3 Chapter 1: Product Overview Features and Benefits The IBM® NetBAY™ Local Console Manager (LCM) provides flexible, centralized control of data center servers. The LCM consists of a rack mountable switch, with four Analog Rack Interface (ARI) ports for connecting servers, that operates over standard LAN connections. You access servers through an analog port with enhanced video quality of up to 1600 x 1280 with an end-to-end cable length of up to 15 meters (49.2 feet). This solution delivers a significant reduction of cable volume. The KVM Conversion Option (KCO), USB Conversion Option (UCO) and C2T Conversion Option (CCO) intelligent cables (generically called CO cables) with CAT 5 design dramatically reduce cable clutter, while providing optimal digital display resolution and video settings. The built-in memory of the CO simplifies configuration by assigning and retaining unique server identification codes for each attached server. This integrated intelligence enhances security and prevents unauthorized access to a server through cable manipulation. The CO cable is powered directly from the server and provides Keep Alive functionality even if the LCM is not powered. The IBM
®
NetBAY™ Local Console Manager (LCM) provides flexible, centralized
control of data center servers. The LCM consists of a rack mountable switch, with
four Analog Rack Interface (ARI) ports for connecting servers, that operates over
standard LAN connections. You access servers through an analog port with
enhanced video quality of up to 1600 x 1280 with an end-to-end cable length of up to
15 meters (49.2 feet). This solution delivers a significant reduction of cable volume.
The KVM Conversion Option (KCO), USB Conversion Option (UCO) and C2T
Conversion Option (CCO) intelligent cables (generically called CO cables)
with CAT 5 design dramatically reduce cable clutter, while providing optimal
digital display resolution and video settings. The built-in memory of the CO
simplifies configuration by assigning and retaining unique server identification
codes for each attached server. This integrated intelligence enhances security
and prevents unauthorized access to a server through cable manipulation.
The CO cable is powered directly from the server and provides Keep Alive
functionality even if the LCM is not powered.
