Cabling, Ethernet, management

Page 66 highlights

Cabling the Ethernet LAN port and management port: This section describes how to cable the Remote Supervisor Adapter. You can manage the server remotely through the Remote Supervisor Adapter using one of the user interfaces and one of the connection methods that are described in Table 2. Select the interface method you want to use to perform remote management; then, perform the indicated cabling procedure. If you plan to set up an ASM interconnect network, before you begin cabling the server, see "Using the ASM interconnect network" on page 63 for instructions about cabling the ASM interconnect port and setting up the network. You might want to review the information in "ASM interconnect network configuration examples" on page 68 before you connect the cables. Then, return to these instructions to start the cabling procedures. Table 2. Attention: To avoid damage to the Ethernet connector on the Remote Supervisor Adapter, do not connect the ASM Interconnect module to the Ethernet port. 1. Connect one end of a Category 3 or Category 5 Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the Remote Supervisor Adapter. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the network. 54 xSeries 445 Type 8870: User's Guide
