8 TONE SQUELCH AND POCKET BEEP ■ Tone/DTCS squelch and pocket beep 1 D Tone squelch and DTCS squelch The tone squelch (CTCSS) or DTCS squelch opens only when receiving a signal that includes a matched CTCSS tone or DTCS code, respectively. You can silently wait for calls using the same tone or code. Separate tone frequencies can be set for repeater and tone squelch/pocket beep operation. D Pocket beep The pocket beep function uses subaudible tones or DTCS codes for calling, and can be used as a "common pager" to inform you that someone has called while you were away from the transceiver.
