When your CD boombox is connect to AC power, it does not use the batteries. To connect AC power: 1 Make sure that the type of power in your area matching the type of power listed on the label on the back of your CD boombox. If the power type does not match, contact your retailer or Insignia. 2 Unwind the AC power cord. 3 Plug the small end of the AC power cord into the AC power connector on the back of your CD boombox. 4 Plug the other end of the AC power cord into a power outlet. Note Unplug the AC power cord if you will not be using your CD boombox for an extend period of time. Unplug the AC power cord when you are installing batteries or when you want to operate your boombox on battery power. Installing the batteries You can use batteries to provide power for your CD boombox. If your CD boombox is connected to AC power, it does not use the batteries. To install the batteries: 1 Open the battery compartment. 2 Insert eight R-14, UM-2, or C-cell batteries (preferable alkaline batteries) into the battery compartment. Make sure that you align the + and - symbols with the + and - symbols inside the battery compartment. 3 Close the battery compartment. Caution Do not throw the batteries into fire. Dispose of used batteries as hazardous waste. Do not try to recharge batteries that are not rechargable. The batteries may overheat and rupture. 4 www.insignia-products.com
