Chapter 6 - Programming Input Commands Display data stream commands form two categories: the input commands and the output commands. The IBM 5250 Information Display System Functions Reference Manual (IBM part number SA21-9247-6 provides more detailed descriptions than those presented in this guide). Immediate commands are executed when the controller receives the command. AID-associated commands are queued until the operator presses an AID-generating key such as Enter/Rec Adv. Other AID-generating keys are listed in the chapter for each computer. Read Immediate The Read Immediate command is similar to the Read Screen command, except the data comes from the format table rather than the display.
