IP2L RFID Snap-On Reader Non-Incendive (NI) Safety Instructions Models 1000AA09-NI Caution: This marking indicates that the user should read all included documentation before use. Retain this supplement for future reference. Users of this product are cautioned to use accessories and peripherals approved by Intermec Technologies Corporation. The use of accessories other than those recommended, or changes to this product that are not approved by Intermec Technologies Corporation, may void the compliance of this product and may result in the loss of the user's authority to operate the equipment. Non-Incendive Device Important Operating Instructions The 1000AA09-NI RFID Snap-on Reader has been qualified by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. to the requirements of the U.S.A. and Canada for use in Class I , Division 2 - Groups A, B, C, D and Non-Hazardous locations only when used with Intermec CN70 NI Series Models: 1000CP01x-NI and 1000CP02x-NI. This product has a T6 temperature code. Warning: Explosion Hazard - Substitution of components may impair suitability for use in Class I, Division 2 locations. Note: This product has no operator replaceable parts. Repair of this unit must be performed by trained Intermec service personnel. Warning: Explosion Hazard - The CN70 NI series computer when attached to the IP2L NI RFID Reader renders the system of the two components as suitable for Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, D, and non-hazardous locations only. This combination must not be used in Class II or Class III, Division 2 environments. Warning: Explosion Hazard - The connection/disconnection between the CN70 NI series computer and the IP2L NI RFID Reader must only occur in an area known to be non-hazardous. Additional Recommendations for Safety The following additional recommendations must be observed for the safety of the operator and others while in Division 2 locations: • These products must only be used with the ambient temperature is between -20°C and 50°C (-4°F and 114°F). • While in a Class I, Division 2 environment do not connect anything to the bottom connector of the IP2L NI RFID Reader. Do not attempt to charge the combination of the IP2L NI and the CN70 Series NI while in a Division 2 environment. Caution: When charging the combination of the CN70 Series and IP2L through the I/O connector at the base of the IP2L use Intermec power supply Models 9001AE02 or 9002AX02. When charging this combination in a communications dock use Intermec Models 1002UU01, 1002UU02, 1002UU03, 1002UU04, or 1002UU05. Use of incorrect charger may present a risk of fire or explosion. Radiation Exposure Statement Warning: This equipment complies with International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP), IEEE C95.1, Federal Communications Commission Office of Engineering and Technology (OET) Bulletin 65, Canada RSS-102, and European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) limits for exposure to radio frequency (RF) radiation. When installing and using this product, a 20 cm (8 in.) passing distance must be maintained from the body or head of the user or nearby persons and the antenna. The antenna must not be touched during transmitter operation. U.S.A. Digital Emissions Compliance This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) This device must accept any interference received, including interference that can cause undesired operation. This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures: • Reorient or relocate the radio or television receiving antenna. • Increase the separation between the computer equipment and receiver. • Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the radio or television receiver is connected. • Consult the dealer or an experienced radio television technician for help. 1
