Proper Disposal of Waste Batteries Some of the substances necessary for the proper functioning of batteries are considered harmful to the environment and to human health. It is therefore important that those substances be kept out of the environment. You play an important role in the protection of the environment: 1. Keep all waste batteries out of unsorted trash. 2. Dispose of all waste batteries in separate collection for treatment and recycling. Please contact Intermec for the collection option(s) available in your location. Marking of the battery: 1. The wheeled-bin symbol indicates the requirement for separate collection of the battery. 2. Two letters shown underneath the wheeled bin indicate the presence of a certain substance: a. Hg means Mercury is present b. Cd means Cadmium is present c. Pb means Lead is present 3. The Moebius loop (chasing arrows) indicates that the battery is recyclable. See "Charging the Battery" for approved charging methods. Use of this battery in other devices could result in damage to the device or battery. The temperature range for charging batteries is 0°C to 45°C (32°F to 113°F). Do not charge battery packs outside this range. For maximum battery life, charge batteries at 25°C (77°F). Do not store the battery at temperatures above 50°C (122°F), such as inside a car on a hot day or in direct sunlight, as this may damage the battery. Battery usage by children should be supervised. Do not disassemble or open, crush, bend or deform, puncture, shred, or burn. Do not modify the battery or attempt to insert foreign objects into the battery. Do not solder directly to the battery contacts. Do not immerse the battery in water. Do not short circuit the battery. Keep the battery connector away from metallic items. Do not apply mechanical shocks or pressure to the battery. Avoid dropping the battery or the printer. If you suspect that the battery or printer is damaged, send it to an Intermec service center for inspection. Replace battery only with another Intermec battery Model AB13. This battery has been tested in accordance with applicable safety standards. Contact your Intermec sales representative or distributor if this battery is no longer available. Discarded batteries may create a safety hazard. Before disposal, cover the battery connector with electrical insulating tape. AB13 Battery Instructions Use the Model AB13 (P/N 318-026-001) rechargeable Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery with the PB50, PB51, and PW50 printers. Charging the Battery You need to fully charge the battery before using it in your printer. You can charge a battery after partial discharge without affecting the original battery capacity. Use the next table to understand the maximum charging times for a fully discharged battery. It may take less time to charge the battery depending on the state of the battery charge.
