Rear Speaker Harness Installation Instructions

Page 2 highlights

Rear Speaker Harness Installation Instructions Installation procedure 1. You will see that one end of this harness has two 4-pin connectors. One of these white 4-pin plugs will plug into the "amplified out" on the amp that will power the rear speakers. The amplifier comes with a short harness with a black 8-pin plug and two 4-pin blue plugs. Plug the 8-pin black plug into the amplifier's input that will power the rear speakers. The second 4-pin plug marked "rear in" on the rear speaker harness will plug into one of the blue 4-pin connectors, noting they will only go in one way. 2. The harness that will run the rear speakers will pass under the inner fairing on the clutch side of the bike. Loosen the tank's "chrome console" and run the wires up and over the gas tank, but under the tank's chrome console. There is a provision on the front of the console for wires to pass under it allowing the power harness to run on the brake side of the filler spout and the rear speaker harness to run on the clutch side of the spout. NOTE: Although not necessary, the power and rear harnesses can go under the gas tank if you choose to remove and re-install the tank. With the tank removed you will see a factory wire channel where wires pass along the bike's frame. Removing the top of the channel will allow for the power and rear speaker harness to be safely run under the tank to the battery area. When reinstalling the top of the channel take care not to pinch any wires along the edges of the channel. 3. When installed on the bike, you will see that this harness has a white 8-pin plug towards the back of the bike. This is a "quick disconnect" for bikes that have the large "tour pak" removeable, and allows the rear speakers to be plugged in or unplugged easily. The end of the harness that will be at the rear end of the bike is split into 2 groups of 4 wires, one marked "clutch side", and one marked "brake side". If you are sitting on the bike looking forward, the brake side is on your right-hand side. Remove the factory rear speakers from each rear "pod". Each group of wires will enter the rear pod where the factory wires enter the pod. The factory speaker wires will plug into the male spades on each side, and the female spades on this harness will plug directly onto each rear speaker. NOTE: Factory rear wires DO NOT have insulators. Once the factory rear wires are plugged into this harness, please wrap each connection with electrical tape to prevent the wires from shorting against each other.
